Ypres – Battlefield Tour

The heritage and remembrance of lives lost throughout battle in Belgium is heart stopping.

The significance of the losses that were suffered in the battlefields of the Ypres Salient cannot be over emphasised, the countryside of Belgium is scattered with hundreds of cemeteries & memorials including Tyne Cot; the largest commonwealth forces cemetery in the world.

For students studying WW1, WW2 and even The Battle of the Somme – a tour to the city of Ypres will more than likely bring a tear to their eye; emphasising the impact these battles had and the huge loss of life that occurred.

Throughout your residential, you will visit battlefields of the Western Front where in tact trenches can be seen, cemeteries from both allied forces & Nazi forces and view many memorials – particularly Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres, here you can witness the Last Post Ceremony, which takes place at 8pm every evening.

Your trip is completely bespoke and we tailor your visit to Belgium to meet your requirements. The world, well Belgium is your oyster when it comes to this tour – we usually use Ypres as our base due to the historical significance the town holds however we can organise multi-site tours. For example if you wanted to stay in Ypres for 2 nights and Brussels for 2 nights; this is completely within our remit, just make an enquiry and one of our helpful team will be more than happy to assist.

Are we able to use the coach throughout our stay?

The coach will be available for your arrival & departure days and any pre-agreed excursions & transfers. If you desire to use the coach throughout your stay. We highly recommend pre-arranging this as coach drivers are restricted by European Driving Laws and require legal rest periods. Drivers may accept additional use of the coach, although this is at the discretion of the coach company and may be subject to further charges.

Are we able to choose which hotel we stay in?

We’ve tried and tested hotels & hostels in Ypres and are confident the accommodation provider we use if the most cost-effective and convenient for school groups. We’re more than happy to welcome any suggestions which we can look into for you.

To cross the channel, will we go via Dover-Calais Ferries or Eurotunnel?

We aim to use the most cost effective route possible, within the availability and suitability of scheduled services. Commonly, the ferries to Calais & Dunkirk tend to be the cheapest option; this allows your driver to have their required break and also gives your group chance to stretch their legs, use the facilities and have a bite to eat.
